Veracruz, Veracruz.- Due to the health emergency, the 2021 Veracruz Carnival was suspended in person, announced the president of the organizing committee, Luis Antonio Pérez Fraga.
However, so that this holiday does not go unnoticed, it will be held virtually from February 25 to 28 of the current year.
At a press conference, he informed that capsules will be recorded and round tables, interviews with former kings, a parade contest and delivery of the “real face mask” will be held, activities that will be broadcast on the official platforms of the Veracruz City Council and the organizing committee itself.
He pointed out that the Coronavirus will be the central character of the burning of bad humor and the kings will be two iconic characters in Veracruz Caritina I of the Huaca neighborhood and Manzanita I who has participated in countless editions as a prince.
“ On the 25th we are going to start with the Burning of Bad Mood and in this case it will be the coronavirus. We are going to do it at dawn to avoid crowds, we do not want public and we will do it privately. We are going to record everything these days for the Virtual Carnival capsules ” , he said.
Pérez Fraga mentioned that it will be the first time in 96 years that a carnival is canceled due to a ” sui géneris ” event , which is having an impact on a global and national level.
The artistic cast will be provided by local artists.
The party will be broadcast on the “Veracruz Te Quiero” networks, the Veracruz Carnival page and on a local television station.
Veracruz groups and outings from past editions will be broadcast every day.
It is worth mentioning that last year the Veracruz Carnival parties were held in February, before the coronavirus pandemic began, however on this occasion, sanitary conditions will not allow the festival to take place, since being the most important of the State congregate a high number of spectators and the vaccination in our country advances of slow way.
It must be remembered that the festivities are attended by more than a million spectators and the economic spill generated is around 250 million pesos, which will no longer be received on this occasion due to the cancellation of the festival.
