A director and an administrative director of two public hospitals in Tabasco submitted their resignations after it was discovered that the vaccine against Covid-19 was applied to them.

VILLAHERMOSA, TABASCO. (January 19, 2021) .– A general director and an administrative director of two public hospitals in Villahermosa, Tabasco submitted their resignations after it was discovered that they received the vaccine against Covid-19 that was supposed to be administered only to health personnel treating coronavirus patients.

Both join the director of the Women’s Hospital, Germán Arturo Corzo Ríos, who was dismissed on Friday on the instructions of Tabasco Governor Adán Augusto López Hernández, also for receiving the vaccine when it was not their turn yet.

By letter, the administrative director of the Women’s Hospital, Germán Palmer Baños, presented his resignation to Secretary Silvia Guillermina Roldán Fernández’s.

“I hereby write to you that derived from the events that have been occurring in recent hours, in relation to the application of the covid-19 vaccine at the High Specialty Hospital for Women, I present my resignation ”, says the text.

Palmer Baños, like the dismissed director of the Women’s Hospital, Germán Arturo Corzo Ríos, as hospital managers took advantage of the position and received the vaccine before the medical personnel who are “on the front line” fighting the pandemic.

Corzo Ríos was fired by Governor Adán Augusto, and now, Palmer Baños resigned.

For its part, the Institute of Social Security of the State of Tabasco (ISSET) reported that the administrative director of the Family Medicine Unit of that institution in this capital, María Elvia Fernández, resigned yesterday from her position, “indicating¿ that the working relationship with the public servant was concluded ”.

He also clarified that María Elvia received the covid-19 vaccine outside of that institution and that in the ISSET records there is no name related to any relative of her.

María Elvia’s case was made public by herself by uploading a photograph to her social networks at the time the vaccine was applied, and later she deleted it; however, she generated harsh criticism and allegations stating that her husband and children also received the drug.

María Elvia is also the administrative director of the Children’s Hospital, where she apparently received the Covid-19 vaccine and where the director of that hospital, Silvia Gutiérrez Lucatero, was also immunized.

The name of Gutiérrez Lucatero appears in the registry of the Ministry of Health as one of the first to be vaccinated and now it is questioned why she was not also ceased as the director of the Women’s Hospital, Germán Arturo Corzo Ríos.

According to the Ministry of Health, in three days (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) 8,204 health workers were vaccinated and the application of the 9,750 doses to health personnel has already concluded in Tabasco.

In its daily report, the agency said that in the last 24 hours there were 305 new coronavirus infections and 12 deaths, for a cumulative total of 48,782 confirmed cases and 3,406 deaths.

In addition, there are currently 2,298 active patients and 279 hospitalized in the state of Tabasco.
