Campeche has managed to be the only entity that continues in the green color of the epidemiological traffic light, not only for implementing national and international biosafety protocols and the permanent commitment that civil society maintains when using face masks, also for its tourism sector, local authorities assured.

The Campeche Tourism Secretariat recalled that they have implemented a strategy that allowed tourism companies to operate with hygiene and sanitation measures to reduce the risks of transmission of Covid-19. For example, they granted the proof of Good Practices of Safety and Hygienic Quality in the provision of tourist services, as well as the Clean Point seal of the Federal Ministry of Tourism.

Additionally, it signed an agreement with the State Secretary of Health, to offer accommodation service providers an online training program and face-to-face verification, which allowed them to apply the appropriate health protocols, and they were also credited with the certificate. Also, Campeche has been recognized as a safe destination through the Safe Travel Seal granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council before the approval of global health protocols that provide confidence and security to visitors.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism, Jorge Enrique Manos Esparragoza, highlighted the commitment of tourism service providers throughout the health contingency, which has generated confidence in tourists.

“Campeche in green traffic light increases its tourist influx, mainly of national tourism. With the teamwork of the agencies and personnel whose priority is the security of the state, today Campeche has governability and is a safe destination for visitors, ”said Manos.

The official highlighted that due to these actions, during the past vacation period, Campeche reached 45% in hotel occupancy, with national visitors, mainly from central Mexico and the region of the Yucatan peninsula. Satisfaction surveys indicated that most of the families decided to visit the entity because they were at a green traffic light.

In this same period, the airlines Aeroméxico, Volaris, and Viva Aerobus, consolidated their routes to Campeche, reaching an average occupancy of 76 percent.

“At this stage of the pandemic, Campeche is the best option for visitors to reactivate tourism responsibly, visiting the natural and cultural attractions of the state,” he reiterated.

The governor, Carlos Miguel Aysa González, has reiterated that we must not lower our guard, the responsibility of maintaining this status belongs to everyone.

On December 1, Campeche was recognized as a state that diversifies its tourist offer; the Federal Tourism Secretariat gave the appointment to Isla Aguada, Carmen, as a new Magic Town, being one of the 11 towns that obtained this recognition; today the country has 132 Magical Towns.

Finally, Manos Esparragoza highlighted that thanks to the Mundo Maya Alliance, sanitary protocols have been homologated at a regional level to position it nationally and internationally in the south-southeast.
