Authorities pointed out that there could be 4 or 5 involved in these corruption acts.

The National Commission of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Conapesca) offered to dismiss the inspectors who are linked to acts of corruption and that in the case of Campeche there might be 4 or 5 announced shrimp businessmen and fishing leaders after holding a meeting with the General Director of Inspection and Surveillance of Conapesca, Héctor Mucharraz Brambila

In the facilities of the Third Naval Region, the meeting was held where the fishermen and shipowners expressed their confidence that now they do proceed against predation and called on the State Government to join in the work of inspection and surveillance

According to the President of the Federation of Riverside Cooperative Societies, Pedro Chi Pech requested coordination between the State and Federal Governments for the benefit of fishing activity.

He considered that “a quite drastic change” can be generated since most of the inspectors leave and the inspection area will be transformed

On the other hand, the President of the Association of Fishermen in Defense of the Sea, José Virgilio Pérez Chan, announced that he also offered to end the boats that sail with 12 or 15 people, who are engaged in illegal fishing, so that the limits are respected of maritime security that establishes 2 to 3 people on board the vessels.

They will also be asked to use the corresponding life jackets and combat predation

It was announced that new inspectors will come because they will fire 4 or 5 inspectors, a situation that must be specified at the end of the month according to Conapesca

In addition to requesting the State Government to assist in these actions by supporting inspectors to combat illegal fishing.

For his part, the President of the National Chamber of the Fishing Industry (Canainpesca), Francisco Romellón Herrera stated that predation must be stopped since it is one of the factors of the drop in production coupled with the very serious problem of guateo regardless of the impact that drives the price of marine diesel and gasoline.

He explained that production drops are 40 percent compared to last year’s catch because predation does not allow sizes to grow during closed periods.
