Only 73 have been located while 165 continue as missing

Of the 239 Veracruz women who disappeared in Veracruz from January to October 2020, only 73 have been located while 165 remain disappeared, according to the statistics generated by the Observatory of Violence against Women from the Veracruzana University.

Of the total number of disappearances, obtained through the media, official web pages of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Veracruz, press releases from official instances and social networks, 137 occurred during the months of January to June and 102 from July to October of last year.

Regarding the regions, the northern part of the entity registers the highest number of disappearances of women with 121 cases; while the central and southern zones registered 59 disappearances each in the first 10 months of the year that ended.

Poza Rica was the municipality with the most registered cases with 24 followed by Veracruz with 17, Tuxpan with 14, Papantla and Martínez de la Torre with 13 each, Acayucan with 12 and Xalapa with 11 disappearances.

Finally, data from the University Observatory of Violence against Women indicate that, of the total number of disappeared women, 142 were minors, 78 were adults, 8 were older adults and in the rest of the case the age of the victim was not specified.
