Cancún, Quintana Roo started the year with three homicides; the murders were committed in a resort, in Tulum, and in the municipality of Puerto Morelos.

In the surroundings of the “El Chetumalito” market, in Supermanzana 66, 7th street with Francisco I. Madero Avenue, a man of approximately 30 years of age died as a result of five stab wounds.

Likewise, on a dirt road near the communal town of Leona Vicario, in Puerto Morelos, the body of a man who had his head cut off was found.

According to preliminary reports, the subject between 40 and 45 years old had a tattoo in the shape of a lizard on one of his legs. Versions of local people indicate that the victim could be “El Chayo”, who for a week has been in as unknown.

In Tulum, a cyclist who was traveling on the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto federal highway, by the “Aldea Tulum” subdivision, found in the bushes the lifeless body of a man who was wrapped in a white blanket. Tulum closed 2020 with 62 people executed, 25 more than in 2019 when 37 were registered.
