US consular agencies will reopen in Cancun and Playa del Carmen in January

They will work three days a week

US authorities announced that as of January 4, the US consular agencies in Cancun and Playa del Carmen will resume operations, although with limited attention.

According to the publication of the United States Consulate in Mérida on its Twitter account @ConsuladoUSAMer, the offices will operate three days a week, as of the aforementioned date. They invite citizens who require it to make their appointment by calling 999 316 7168 and (1) 844 528 6611.

Likewise, the Consulate reminds all US citizens that in the state of Quintana Roo the use of face masks is mandatory, including tourist areas such as Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen, as a measure by local authorities to reduce COVID infections -19.

On March 18, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and all U.S. consulates general in Mexico suspended routine consular and visa services due to COVID-19.
