The State Committee for Health and Safety approved the decree for the application of the Dry Law on December 24, 25, 27, and 31, 2020, as well as January 1 and 3, 2021, which will be applicable to the entire state territory.

This is a measure with the firm intention of continuing to strengthen the measures to guarantee the safeguarding and protection of the health of Chiapas.

In strict adherence to the General Health Law, the inter-institutional body made up of the three levels of government and responsible for making decisions for the mitigation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the agreement approved unanimously conforms to the framework to the current legal laws, according to the following:

Article 152.- The health authorities may order, due to epidemic causes, the temporary closure of the premises or meeting centers of any kind.

Article 182.- In the event of an epidemic of a serious nature, the danger of invasion of communicable diseases, emergency situations or catastrophe that affect the country, the Ministry of Health will immediately dictate the necessary measures to prevent and combat damage to health, subject to that such measures are later sanctioned by the President of the Republic.

In this sense, the state agency emphasizes that this measure bets on the understanding of the population, since it aims to reduce the consumption of alcoholic beverages, raise awareness to not to hold mass events or meetings within the framework of these December dates and, consequently, reducing the risk of contagion and outbreak of coronavirus in the entity.

This determination is the result of permanent collaboration with the business unit since the State Committee for Health and Safety held a dialogue with the representative of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC), Guillermo Acero Bustamante, and the businessman and representative of the bars of Tuxtla (AbarTux), Gabriel Orantes Costanzo, who supported the measure agreed by the health agency.

Finally, it is reported that the “House-to-house sweep” strategy for the intentional search for Covid-19 cases remains active throughout the 10 health districts of the state, as well as the appeal to the general population to continue applying the sanitary measures of security and personal protection: use of mask, healthy distance, and washing of hands or use of antibacterial gel.
