A cold Christmas for Sinaloa and Mexico forecast

The SMN warns that on Thursday a new cold front will enter Mexico affecting several states in the northwest, north and northeast, including Sinaloa

Sinaloa.- Everything indicates that Christmas night will be cold in Sinaloa because for Wednesday the arrival of a new cold front is forecast that will approach the northern border of Mexico and on Thursday it will cause strong gusts of wind and decreases in temperatures in the northwest, north and northeast of the Mexican Republic.

The National Meteorological Service warned that even due to the entry of this new frontal system, minimum temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius below zero could occur in the upper parts of Chihuahua and Durango, while minimum temperatures are forecast for the Sierra de Sonora between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius below zero.

The lowest temperatures recorded during the last hours in the northern region of Sinaloa were recorded in the vicinity of the municipality of El Fuerte and Choix, where the thermometer reached minimums of up to 8 and 8.5 degrees Celsius under shelter, respectively.

The minimum records detected in the sierra were -5 degrees centigrade.

The forecasts

Cold front number 22 will run through the southeast of Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula, causing heavy showers and rains at very strong points in the east and southeast of the national territory, including the aforementioned peninsula.

The air mass that drives the front will keep the cold to icy environment during the morning and night over entities of the Mesa del Norte and Mesa Central, with morning frosts in mountainous areas of both regions, fogs in the center, east and southeast of the country, in addition to a strong “North” event in the southern coast of the Gulf of Mexico and very strong in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec.

In Sinaloa, sunny conditions are expected to continue for most of the day in most of the state, with no probability of rain.

Wind gusts that could reach intensities between 50 and 60 kilometers per hour are expected to be recorded this Tuesday in areas of Baja California, Sea of ​​Cortés, Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
