The airline suspended its activities in several cities in the country, including Cancun and Cozumel.

Interjet will stop flying for the rest of 2020 to Cancun and Cozumel, as announced by the airline because they could not solve the economic and internal problems in which the company is involved.

The airline’s problems began when it failed to cover its payroll, remaining in debt with its almost 5,000 workers for 3 months and it has not legally liquidated the fried employees either; In addition, last Friday, when Interjet began canceling flights because they had not made the fuel payment to be able to take off to the federal airport authorities, the amount owed is for more than one million pesos.

This flight cancellation began this Friday, December 18 and it will last until the last day of 2020; Some users did not find out about this measure taken by the company, so they went to the Cancun international airport, but no one attends them there.

“They did not solve anything for me, I have been calling for 45 minutes, they tell me that they protect me, but they do not offer my money back, nor do they offer me another ticket in another company, they say that my return process will be between 12 and 18 months, it is not fair, it’s not really worth it ”, assured María Del Carmen Ortiz, who assures that she will go to the last stages to get her money back.

For its part, the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (PROFECO) summoned those affected by Interjet to carry out collective action against the company after the cancellations and breaches.

Data from PROFECO itself indicate that so far in 2020 there have been 1,542 complaints from consumers against the Interjet airline, of which 904 are in process, the main reason being the claim for the cancellation of flights, as well as the demand for the return of money invested in plane tickets.

The destinations that will be most affected by this cancellation will be Mexico City, Mérida, Cozumel, Monterrey, and Cancun, since Interjet only operated in Mexican territory during the economic reactivation.
