Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- After the shipping lines canceled their arrivals to the Mexican Riviera due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they could return at the end of March, announced Óscar Pérez Barros.

The Secretary of Tourism in Sinaloa admitted that the return of cruise ships is very complicated and that the new date of their return is for the first quarter of 2021.

He recalled that for this year the arrival of 156 cruise ships to Mazatlan was contemplated, however, with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the activity was paralyzed since March and only 32 ships with 107 thousand 434 passengers could arrive, which left an economic benefit of around 150 million pesos.

Pérez Barros highlighted that The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) has taken into account Mazatlán and Cozumel for the development of the protocols.

“We are designing the protocols of how they are going to go down, all this is being seen, it is very complicated by the countries, the destinations and each of the shipping companies that are setting their rules, so the issue of the protocols is very complex. that’s why the return is taking time, “he said.

He revealed that the FCCA in the perceptions it had on the itineraries were 255 for 2021, obviously, this has been stopping and that amount will not arrive, but the intentions are very positive since the destination is very attractive for shipping lines.

The FCCA convention will be in January in Puerto Rico, and we will be in-person to make contact with each of the shipping companies, the strategy to be presented is already being put together
