CONTINUING SUPPORT OF POPULATION BY FLOODING IN SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS

Elements of the Inter-Institutional Security and Civil Protection Group continue to provide support to the population affected by the heavy rains that occurred during the last hours in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, transferring more than 200 people to shelters and the homes of family or friends, in order to guarantee their physical integrity and provide safe shelter.

In support of these actions, since the afternoon of this Thursday an important task force made up of elements of the Municipal Police was formed, with a total of 60 troops, including foot-ground personnel, motorcycle patrols and patrols; Municipal and state Civil Protection with 30 elements; National Guard with 35 elements and all-terrain units, as well as the State Preventive Police of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, with 30 more elements, which are distributed in the affected area .;

During the Altos Region Security Table, it was reported that, derived from the Contingency Plan, the National Defense Secretariat, through the 31st military zone, joined the tasks with 30 elements, aboard vehicles of the “Command ”, With which the care provided during the last 16 hours in 12 neighborhoods and neighborhoods where there were flooding and river overflow will be reinforced.



The Interinstitutional Group detailed that, although the rains have decreased in this municipality, they will continue to carry out rescue and evacuation of people who require it, as well as the cordoning off of streets and avenues due to flooding, towing of stranded vehicles and cleaning of stone materials that they were withdrawn on some rural roads, in order to avoid risks to the population.



Finally, a call was made to the public to remain attentive to alerts from the State Civil Protection System and report any incident to the emergency number 9-1-1, from where help will be channeled if necessary.
