Agents of the Mexican Navy Secretariat, attached to the Eighth Naval Region in Acapulco, seized 95 packages of cocaine on the high seas.

The location and recovery of the illegal cargo was carried out with the support of helicopters and early warning aircraft.

As well as surface units staffed with Marine Corps personnel ; same that was concentrated and transferred to this port by a ship.

In a statement, Semar indicated that the drug was located by means of beacons, carrying out geographical marking through equipment present in the aircraft, finding the cargo floating in the sea; which apparently is related to the recent seizure of approximately 2,000 liters of fuel and the arrest of alleged criminals in possession of fuel whose provenance was not possible to verify; off the coast of Guerrero, reported last October 9.

The drug was placed before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), at the facilities in Acapulco, Guerrero; in order to carry out the corresponding weighing.

The agency stressed that this action would add more than four tons of cocaine, insured in less than three months by Operational Units of the Eighth Naval Region .

“Because in this event in an initial count the packages threw an approximate weight of 2,000 kilograms, the ministerial weight will be confirmed by the corresponding authority,” he indicated.
