The Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico, through the Fifth Naval Region, rescued two families in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, and four people who were traveling in a boat, as part of the actions of the Marine Plan in its relief phase, before the passage of tropical storm Gamma.

During their tours of the Félix González Canto neighborhood, naval personnel managed to save two adults and four minors, who were transferred to the private home of a relative, while at Ampliación Maravillas another family made up of two adults and three minors were evacuated, which were helped and protected from weather conditions in shelters.

Meanwhile, they rescued four people in the vicinity of Cayo Lobos del Banco Chinchorro, also in Quintana Roo.

An emergency call to the Harbor Master’s Office requested support for the search and location of a smaller vessel, for which a Defender- type vessel of the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station ( ENSAR ) of Chetumal was ordered to set sail. , which searched for them from the Zaragoza Canal to Mahahual and the surroundings of Banco Chinchorro.

The people located, who had slight symptoms of dehydration, were transferred to the Mahahual dock, where they were received by Naval Health personnel to provide medical attention and withdrew in the company of their relatives.

Semar reaffirmed its commitment to the public to safeguard human life at sea and recommended that the general population stay informed and take care of the measures indicated by the Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico, Civil Protection, and state and local authorities.
