600 thousand affected and five dead by tropical storm ‘Gamma’ in Mexico


The military authorities activated the DN-III-E Plan to attend to those affected in the states of Tabasco and Chiapas

Mexico.- More than 600 thousand people affected and at least five deaths has left the tropical storm  ‘ Gamma ‘ in the states of  Chiapas and Tabasco.

Civil Protection authorities in Chiapas, specified that there are 323 affected families and 525 homes damaged by the rains, which have also led to landslides and landslides.

At dawn on Saturday, two women and two children, members of a family, died as a result of a landslide in the municipality of Chamula.

While state authorities provide humanitarian aid to people affected by floods, the  National Defense Secretariat  activated the  DN-III-E Plan  in its prevention phase, evacuating the population at risk to temporary shelters.

In  Tabasco, throughout Saturday 367 communities and 589,536 people were affected by the rains, for which 28 shelters were enabled.
