The objective is to generate certainty and confidence in the economic reactivation of the central-desert region, and the Magical Town of Cuatrociénegas

The Monclova Convention and Visitors Bureau implemented the Responsible Tourism Management (MRT) certification, with the aim of generating certainty and confidence in the economic reactivation of the central-desert region, and its Magical Town of Cuatrocienegas.

This was pointed out by Luis González Arocha, president of the Coahuila Tour Operators Association. Tourism being the last sector to reactivate in the economy, this will become the most relevant activity of the moment. “In the new normal, the tourist will value, in addition to the treatment, the service and the details of each place visited, those establishments that have certifications that ensure that they are trained in hygiene, prevention measures, and technology,” he said.

Currently, tourism companies from the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, Puebla, Tijuana, Baja California, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Michoacán, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Mexico City have been trained, with Coahuila being the first state in the northeast to start with the certification.

In the country, 800 tourist guides, 65 municipal tourism departments, 2 tourism secretariats, 1 convention center, and 300 travel agencies and tour operators have the MRT (Responsible Management of Tourism) certifications. The value chain of tourist services in the central-desert region will receive training to prepare the health security protocol outlined for each business, for the responsible management of tourism.

González Arocha explained that with this, they will be able to obtain the MRT certificate created by the National Association of Travel Agencies, which will allow them to offer certainty to international, national, and local clients that they have established processes for mitigation, containment, and responsible management before the contagion of the virus SARS COV-2.

The president of the Association of Tour Operators of Coahuila said that when registering and taking the intensive seminar on Responsible Management of Tourism COVID-19, said the recognition is given, and there are three weeks to adapt the prevention and mitigation protocols, with a line direct for advice or visits. Once the result of the evaluation is positive, the MRT COVID-19 Badge is delivered, and it enters the database of responsible establishments.
