On November 18, 2020, the National Tourism Forum will be held in Tijuana, Baja California, in which the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, as well as the governors of eight states that host the main destinations for national and international travelers, will participate. , which include those from Baja California Sur and Quintana Roo, Carlos Mendoza Davis, and Carlos Joaquín González, as coordinator and vice-coordinator, respectively, of the Tourism Commission of the National Conference of Governors ( Conago ).

To the Forum, whose motto is “Make Tourism a National Priority”, the businessman Daniel Chávez Morán, founder of Grupo Vidanta, has also been invited and the municipal presidents of Cancun, Mara Lezama; from Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benitez; from Acapulco, Adela Román and from Los Cabos, Armida Castro Guzmán, the latter as a keynote speaker.

The Association of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico, (Asetur) headed by the also Secretary of Tourism of Baja California Sur, Luis Humberto Araiza, will hold its annual assembly within the framework of the event that for the first time in 17 years does not take place in Cancun, Quintana Roo, and in which the great challenges of the sector will be analyzed in a complicated crisis scenario, derived from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his capacity as general coordinator of the event, the Vice President of Institutional Relations of the Vidanta Group, Carlos Mora Alvarez, explained to TravelPulse Mexico that the National Tourism Forum will be

organized in Tijuana at the express request of the Governor of Baja California, Jaime Bonilla, since the city is positioned worldwide as a hub in the medical tourism segment.

“We intend to broaden the panorama to the main tourism players in the country where the capitals of large companies are located, but also to include the authorities of the sector,” explained the former vice president and former director of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servitur).

It should be remembered that last year the XVII edition of the National Tourism Forum, scheduled to take place in the archaeological zone of Palenque, in Chiapas, was canceled due to non-compliance by the sponsors.

Previously, since 2003, the National Tourism Forum has been held 16 times, including seven National Tourism and Culture Forums (Kutur), as well as a dozen thematic seminars on sustainability, promotion and advertising, strategic planning, destination brands. and tourism investment, in order to contribute to the advancement of Mexico as a world tourism power.

Mora Álvarez confirmed that the invitations have been extended to various diplomatic representatives accredited in Mexico, including the United States Ambassador, Christopher Landau, as well as the heads of the Embassies of Spain, Canada, South Korea, Japan, and from China, countries that contribute large investments to the national tourism industry.
