After having postponed its arrival in Mexico for 2020 due to the health emergency declared by the coronavirus pandemic, the Swedish furniture chain Ikea has reported that it finally plans to open its first physical store in the country in 2021.


“We are fine-tuning the last details to open our online store in a few weeks. Register with Ikea Family and find out what we are preparing for the opening of Ikea Oceania in the first months of 2021,” the chain reported through its social networks.

Last May, Malcom Pruys, director of Ikea Mexico, reported that it would activate its online store in Mexico in the fall of this year.

In 2018, the Swedish chain announced the opening of its first store in the country for 2020 in the Encuentro Oceanía shopping center, which will have 23,000 square meters and 7,500 products. Ikea’s expansion plans also include openings in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, and Querétaro.

Ikea was founded in Sweden and is currently present in 50 countries around the world.

In addition to the establishment, the Swedish giant announced the construction of its first Cedis, which will have an area of ​​15,000 square meters and will be located in the north of the State of Mexico.
