Alliance is born to recover tourism in the Mayan region

Today the Mundo Maya alliance which unites the Tourism Secretariats of the States of Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Chiapas, and Campeche, in order to carry out coordinated actions and join efforts for the development and consolidation of products, training, tourism offer, and promotion both nationally and internationally.

It is an initiative that seeks to increase the arrival of visitors, which will be reflected in an economic improvement for service providers and the communities of southeast Mexico, indicate those responsibly. “The intention of this alliance is to promote the greatness of the territory where the Mayan civilization spread, consolidating the tourist offer, based on the guidelines of sustainable development through the use of the heritage and important cultural heritage that these five states have through of the active participation of the public and private sectors, as well as the integration of local communities in favor of the integral development of the region ”.

Michelle Fridman, Secretary of Tourism of the state of Yucatán, announced that with this alliance, the range of segments will be strengthened, such as new routes and tourist circuits; the natural tourist offer, such as cenotes, lagoons, and caves; archaeological zones, gastronomy, local and regional products, crafts, traditions and customs of the living Mayan culture.

One of the objectives of this alliance is to involve communities in the management of their natural and cultural heritage, to contribute to the economic development of the region, but also to social integration and rapprochement between different peoples, creating feelings of pride. community, as well as promoting a constant flow of visitors first at the regional, national, and international levels.

Among the first actions of this alliance, it is worth highlighting the training of the tourism product for companies that generate trips and experiences, with a view to recovering the tourism activity that has been affected by the current health contingency caused by SARS-CoV-2.

Fridman pointed out that Yucatán has been one of the most proactive states in Mexico, in fact, it was one of the first to develop the Tourism Reactivation Plan which, within its actions, contemplates the recovery of local and regional markets, therefore “ these types of alliances are fundamental ”.

It should be noted that Yucatán has developed plans and strategies for tourism promotion and positioning, not only to remain in the remembrance factor of business partners but has also prioritized resilience and traveler trends, preparing with a long list of specific activities to improve the traveler’s experience, an example of this is the implementation of the protocols of good sanitary practices, the consolidation of new tourism products and the constant communication and feedback with the purchasing channels.

“This alliance is consolidated as a commercial strategy of great impact due to its cultural richness and will be a great platform for the consolidation of circuits, road trips, and tours in one of the Mexican regions with the greatest wealth of heritage in the hemisphere,” said Fridman.
