The mayor brings his experiences and safe economic reactivation strategies against Covid-19

Durango, Durango.- The Mayor of Mazatlan, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, presented his strategy of safe economic reactivation in the vicinity of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Durango.

Through a press conference, the mayor reiterated that Mazatlan is a safe tourist port against Covid-19.

Benítez Torres was accompanied by the mayor of Durango, Jorge Salúm; the president of Canaco Durango, Mauricio Olguín; the Secretary of Tourism, Eleazar Gamboa; the president of Canaco Mazatlán, Jesús Sandoval Gaxiola and the General Secretary of Canaco Mazatlán, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez.

“The main objective is that when you go you feel at home because we consider you not only neighbors, brothers, they contribute 25 percent of the tourism in Mazatlán, and to offer, President Jorge (Salum), the applications with pleasure, for that they apply them and they are useful, “he said.

“Governments cannot do everything, it is much very difficult and even less today, when the economy, as a result of this, is impacted, but together we can achieve a lot. And that is precisely what we are working on, in raising awareness among citizens” .

In previous days, the mayor of Mazatlán visited the municipality of Salvador Alvarado and Culiacán.

During the press conference the main topics were tourism promotion, economic and commercial reactivation and the real estate sector.

After the conference, the mayors of Mazatlán and Durango, as well as businessmen from both municipalities, will hold a working meeting to continue promoting tourism in both states.

On June 29, the governments of Sinaloa and Durango signed a collaboration agreement for tourism promotion.

Durango is ‘full’ of Sinaloans

The municipal authorities of Durango announced that the state of Durango is visited by many Sinaloans, mainly from Culiacán, Mazatlán, Los Mochis, Guasave, and Guamúchil.

There are around 181 thousand 500 Sinaloans who visit Durango every year, of which Culiacán enters with 36.13 percent; Mazatlán with 42.85 percent; Los Mochis with 9.24 percent; Guasave 2.1 percent, and Guamúchil with 1.2 percent.

In 2019, Durango registered that 16.5 percent of its tourists were from Sinaloa, while in 2018 it registered 15 percent, so there was a growth of 1.5 percent in percentage growth.
