Tourists arrested for refusing to wear face masks in San Miguel de Allende

In San Miguel de Allende, elements of the Ministry of Public Security detained a man and a woman, residents of Querétaro, for resisting wearing face masks.

The officers were carrying out surveillance on Insurgente and Relox street around 22:30 on Saturday night when they detected three people who were not wearing face masks when the police approached them they indicated that they should put them on.

Of the three people from Querétaro, only one complied with the recommendation, while Víctor “N” and Paulina “N”, were reluctant to the indications and referred them to the preventive divisions for administrative failure.

The detainees were imposed 12 hours of arrest, in addition to 1,500 fine.

He argued that the norm establishes that the person who in default refuses to comply with the requirements and provisions of the health authority, thereby causing a danger to people’s health, will be punished with up to 36 hours of arrest
