Governor announces new measures to avoid social gatherings in Yucatan

Governor explains new measures to control the excessive spread of the virus.

MERIDA YUCATAN .- Last night, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal reported a series of restrictive measures to reduce mobility in the state due to the considerable increase in the number of Covid infections.

These restrictions include:

  • ROAD OPERATION : Starting this Thursday, the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) will implement an operation throughout the state to prevent road traffic from 10:30 at night and until 5 in the morning, except in the coastal municipalities that, due to the number of vacationers, will be implemented from 9 at night until 5 in the morning. This operation will apply to all types of vehicles, except for emergency vehicles, transfers to medical units, purchase of medicines and transfers of health personnel.
  • ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES: Non-essential businesses must remain closed no later than 6 pm and must remain closed Saturdays and Sundays. As for the restaurants, from Monday to Friday they will close at maximum at 10 at night and Saturdays and Sundays they will only be able to operate in the home service, take-away or through platforms. In the case of essential businesses, their own administrators will be responsible for adjusting working hours so that their workers have their departure on time before the aforementioned road closings.
  •  MARINE CLOSURE Also, from this Thursday all the marinas are closed and the immediate return of all recreational boats to be ashore is ordered and the use of any motorized water vehicle except those dedicated to river fishing will be prohibited. People in ports are reminded that wearing mouth masks is mandatory when walking on the beaches.
  • DRY LAW  The reinstatement of the dry law throughout the state from this point on.

In a message to Yucatecans through their social networks, Vila Dosal pointed out that all these measures are of the highest priority to preserve the health and employment of thousands of Yucatecan families, so their success depends on individual commitment and responsibility. of each one so that our new hospital capacity is not put at risk and assured that additional measures are not ruled out in the coming days.

“If social life is not minimized at this time, we will be forced to close all non-essential businesses and return all to quarantine in our homes. This is a last call to Yucatecans to take seriously a pandemic that has caused death in Yucatan, Mexico and the world. We need people to apply prevention measures without exception and totally restrict social life, ”said the Governor.
