Morelia, Michoacán (July 10, 2020) .- Approximately 10 percent of the bars in the city of Morelia affiliated with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) closed their establishments permanently, reported by the President. of the organization, Alejandro Hernández Torres.
In an interview for OEM, the president of Canirac stressed that the definitive closure was due to the suspension of non-essential economic activities since March 17 in the city, which is why the more than 30 sector units reported economic losses of around 36 million pesos, that is, from 300 thousand to half a million pesos per month for each business.
On July 6, the municipal president of Morelia, Raúl Morón Orozco, gave the green light to the reactivation of the more than 6,300 bars with a maximum of 50 percent of their capacity, when the governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles allowed it to reopen a week earlier.
At the moment, said Hernández Torres, 100 percent of the bars are offering their services, however, being a recent opening, there is no reference to the sales they have achieved during these three days, so it is expected that During this weekend, favorable numbers are obtained for the sector, since they were the days with the greatest movement for the business.
The businessman acknowledged that the reactivation of the bars in the city will allow restaurateurs to increase their sales by 10 percent since they will be allowed to extend their hours, as well as increase their percentage allowed for the sale of alcoholic beverages, which was in 10 percent of the total purchase.
