Hotel occupancy is expected to rise to 30 percent in July; it will take months to recover they assure

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- After having been closed for three months due to the covid-19 pandemic, Mazatlán hotels will open tomorrow, Wednesday, July 1, and in some of them, they will be receiving guests during the day.

Julio Birrueta, director of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán (AHyET), pointed out that a symbolic act could be carried out to welcome the first guest who visits Mazatlán after the period of confinement.

“Yes, it would be starting tomorrow, many people come by car, so we do not have exactly the general time when the first passenger will arrive, but we will establish an official time to do so,” he explained.

Birrueta explained that the revival of tourism will be a gradual process, which he said could take a few months.

For his part, the president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association, José Ramón Manguart, indicated that they expect hotel reservation levels to rise to 30 percent on certain days in July.
