On Thursday, June 11, the journalist José Luis Castillo, who was the owner of the “Prioridad Máxima” online newspaper, was murdered in front of his home, at the El Campanario neighborhood, located east of Ciudad Obregón.
According to the first reports, armed men shot him and fled the scene.
José Luis Castillo, 55 years old, was found at 07:30 on the sidewalk of a home located on Calle San Martín, between Retorno San Martín and Santa Rosa.
Minutes earlier, residents of the sector reported that a person was wounded, but when Red Cross paramedics arrived, the man had already died.
Police authorities from different levels of government cordoned off the area, while experts from the Attorney General’s Office in the State worked at the crime scene.
The Sonora Attorney General’s Office is conducting the corresponding investigations to clarify the murder.
