We visit Durango, the heart of Mexico’s geography. Durango is one of the largest states in the country.

On this occasion, we will visit Victoria de Durango, the capital, which captivates with its colonial architecture and history, as well as its extensive desert that has served as a land of cinema.

We also visited the Stampede Midnight Rodeo and family workshops that make artisan mezcal on the outskirts of the Magical Town of Nombre de Dios, and we tried bungee jumping, which is similar to bungee but consists of jumping off a bridge.

While in Durango don’t miss visiting the 1st magical town of the Mexican desert – Mapimí, Durango.

Mapimí is considered the first Magic Town of Durango, its name means elevated hill. It is located less than 300 km from the state capital.

It has more than 400 years of history and is part of the “Camino Real de Tierra Adentro”, the route by which the silver from New Spain was transported.

At the end of the 16th century, the mineral of La Ojuela was discovered and was exploited by the Spanish. The mine became one of the most important in the country until it was flooded in 1932.

Another natural wonder of Mapimí is the Grutas del Rosario, which is 25 km from this town. Here we hiked and learned that these caves were discovered by miners who extracted raw materials in the area.

The Tour Mapimí Ojuela agency made this tour possible.
