The march to demand justice for Giovanni López, who died after police from Ixtlahuacán de Los Membrillos detained him for not wearing face masks.
The demonstration began in the Red Park and then progressed towards the Center of Guadalajara.
Upon arrival at the compound, a group of young people broke into the place and began to paint and destroy the main entrance.
Subsequently, they went to Morelos Street where there were two Jalisco Police units, as well as motorcycles, which they vandalized and then set them on fire.
Moments earlier, attempts were made to disperse protesters with tear gas. The demonstration continues; at the moment no injuries are reported.
Various skirmishes between hooded protesters and police took place in the city’s Historic Center.
In one of these streets, state police and protesters met, a hooded man approaching an agent, who sprayed gasoline on his head and back, and then set him on fire.
The attacker escaped while the burning policeman rolled on the floor, being protected by his companions.
These events were recorded in a video that circulates on social networks.
The state government condemned the events and assured that under no circumstances will these acts be tolerated.
Government repudiates
Enrique Alfaro, Governor of Jalisco, wrote on his twitter account:
“I want to say to the people of Jalisco, head-on as I have always done, that it hurts me too, that it also outrages me and makes me angry that these things happen in Mexico.”
“To the municipal corporations and also to the state one, a very clear message: in Jalisco we are not going to allow abuses of authority and much less that human rights are violated”
Currently, there is an investigation folder in which the police officers, active personnel, are analyzed.
If the investigation requires it, it could be extended to the mayor of that municipality, Macedonio Tamez Guajardo , General Coordinator of Security and Gerardo Octavio Solís, Jalisco prosecutor , said on Wednesday .

He insisted that behind these acts of protest for the murder of Giovanni there are other intentions, but he assured that he shared the outrage at what happened to Los Remedios, for using public force, assured that said municipal police officers we will apply all the weight of the law.
Enrique Alfaro also spoke about the violence, which, according to the governor’s words, had never been seen before in Jalisco. The protests ” are not legitimate, and the cause is not justified, there are interests trying to harm the Jalisco government,” he said.
At the start of the demonstration, there were 150 people in the Red Park marching towards the center of the city, however, when they got there, out of nowhere, different groups appeared that were mutinies, many of whom are not from Jalisco, they generated acts of violence ”, shared Alfaro.
Later he pointed out, regarding the attack on the Government Palace, that it was not important what was material but the workers who were at the time of the protests.
I do not want a city that uses violence to defend causes. We are not going to allow this to happen in Jalisco” said the governor.
He also clarified that the policemen who arrested Giovanni are not state, but municipal.
