They monopolize concessions and demand quotas from pulmonia drivers

Pulmonia drivers with more than 20 years of service are tired of union mafias

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.-Workers with more than 20, 25, and 30 years of service in public transport, who rent pneumonia permits, thundered against the two cooperatives and alliances in Mazatlán, which they accused of monopolizing concessions and demanding union dues. 400 pesos, and monthly payments of 6 thousand pesos for leasing as a requirement to circulate their units.

They said that despite their right of seniority, they do not even have a permit, while other people who neither know of pulmonias nor have ever worked on public transport have up to seven or eight concessions.

The protesters demanded that the governor, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, conduct a census of those who operate with pulmonias, to see that the majority have rented the units for more than 20 years.

They pointed out that all of them have evidence to guarantee or certify their seniority.

“If we had concessions we could lower transport prices because we work for ourselves, prices are higher since we don’t own the units because we have to pay rent and pay union dues, in addition to licenses, registration fees, courses, everything, “said Mario” N “, a pulmonia driver who is 62 years old and has been offering his services for 35 years.

Among the most burdensome expenses they have are the six thousand pesos a month they pay to rent the unit, that is, 200 pesos a day; the main expense is fuel, which is their responsibility, as well as a union fee of 400 pesos per month; the payment of the id card that is renewed every two years and that costs between 400 and 500 pesos; the driver’s license of a thousand pesos, and for newcomers, a course that added to the paperwork and documents, costs more than two thousand pesos.

People who have been working on this for a long time, have not received permission, we are empty-handed, and it is fair that the governor realizes that the permits reach mafia hands that do not distribute them, we take care that we are freed from that fasting from renting, that they give us a permit to those who are really working, not that they give it to people who don’t even know pulmonias, they just know the numbers on the

Mario “N”

They accused the leaders of the Alliance of Pulmonias of Mazatlán and the Cooperative Society of Popular Transport Services of Mazatlán, of monopolizing the concessions, favoring recommended, friends, and family, on the delivery of permits.

We do have unions, but there is the mafia, there are the leaders, they are the ones who grab all the cake, and we, the class below, are left out

protesters.

They indicated that they gain nothing with each change of government in Mazatlán between 100, 150 or 200 permits are not distributed among workers but between corrupt union leaders or those recommended by the government.

They say that every time permits arrive, they fight their seniority rights, but the argument is that for a concession to arrive, they must be part of the cooperative or alliance, and pay between 70,000 and 80,000 pesos for the procedures.

“When the permit arrives, you have to pay about 70,000 or 80,000 pesos, and if you don’t have it, you are not going to get it, they tell you, a permit has arrived, just that you have to deposit 70 or 80,000 pesos, 30, for so and so and 50, for so and so, and people like us who live daily, who sometimes don’t even earn a peso, says, “said Roberto” N “ , with 20 years of service.

LEASE FEES

For Gilberto “N”, with 15 years as a pulmonia driver, if the release of public transportation licenses were given directly to drivers, the rates could be lowered 25 to 30 pesos, but having to pay 200 pesos a day for the rent of the unit and cover the cost of gasoline, the fees soar to a minimum of 40 or 60 pesos.

I am a renter, almost all of us here are renters and we do not have a permit, imagine that we had our concession ourselves and we were working on our own, we would already lower the rate to 25 or 30 pesos, but instead we have to support these ‘PARASITES’; those people grab their 6 thousand pesos a month for each pulmonia for sitting in their homes, I am talking about a permit, a single union leader has up to 7 and 8 permits, monthly at 6 thousand pesos x 7 or 8 permits because they never distributed it to working people, like us

Gilberto “N”

He described alliances or cooperatives as “mafias“, since they have them with “backs against the wall” were drowning, and the worst thing is that this Easter and Easter season has been the most difficult in decades, and still they are demanding the lease fee.

We are with our ‘backs against the wall’, drowning, right now we will not have money to pay them, where will we find 6 thousand pesos a month, we already have more than a month in this ruin (quarantine), we have already talked to them, but they threaten you have to pay, there are no other  choices

NO BENEFITS

Julio “N” pointed out that despite the fact that they pay a union fee of 400 to 500 pesos per month, which includes, among other things, sports activities and a contingency payment, the worker does not have benefits of any kind.

We pay between 400 and 500 pesos a month, that covers your sports, a contingency payment, and so, oh, and we don’t have bonuses here, they don’t even give you, which there is no contingency thing because they would have already given you a little help with this of the quarantine, and it did not come, on the contrary they want us to pay the month

Julio “N”

Alfredo “N” supports him and comments that with these union dues buildings, cooperatives, alliances have been made, but the worker continues empty-handed.

What do you earn or what benefits do you have with each change of government who issues 100, 150 or 200 permits, but they do not distribute them to the workers, but among themselves or those recommended by the government, there are people who are not pulmonia drivers and they get permission, those are from the government and union corrupt officials.

We argue every time the permits arrive, but their reaction is that we are not partners, because as we are ordinary workers, how are we going to be partners, and how will it get to you, but so many years, we already have a right to something , not?

Alfredo “N”

They commented that their intention to make these indications is so that the Governor, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, becomes aware of the situation of public transport, and knows that workers with 20, 25 and 30 years of service continue to work with a rented permit.

It is a theft of the concession, we need you to make a census of the people we work with, to give the permits to the people who really drive them and are old, because they are only fattening the richest
