The COVID-19 pandemic remains very active in Mexico City, Tabasco, and Sinaloa, which have reported more outbreaks of contagion

Health authorities reported today Monday the 20th that there are already 712 deaths from the coronavirus epidemic in the country. In addition, 8,772 confirmed patients positive for COVID-19 have accumulated so far .

This means that 511 new positives and 26 fatalities were presented in the last 24 hours . After the highest peak of infection in a single day (764) occurred this Saturday to Sunday, between Sunday and Monday there was a decrease of 6.2 percent among confirmed cases.

According to confirmed laboratory cases, there are: 2,710 in Mexico City; 901 in the State of Mexico: 741 in Baja California; 486 in Sinaloa; 397 in Tabasco; 360 in Puebla; 360 in Quintana Roo; 254 in Coahuila; 216 in Jalisco; 205 in Baja California Sur; 202 in Nuevo León and 191 cases in Yucatan. 

While there are 156 cases in Veracruz; 152 in Chihuahua; 150 in Guanajuato; 134 in Tamaulipas; 127 in Michoacán; 126 in Guerrero; 117 in Sonora; 92 in Hidalgo; 85 in Morelos; 85 in Querétaro; 80 in Aguascalientes; 78 in Tlaxcala; 69 in Oaxaca; 68 in Chiapas; 66 in San Luis Potosí; 63 in Campeche; 37 in Nayarit, 31 in Zacatecas; 22 in Durango and 11 in Colima.

The official mentioned the areas with the highest transmission of Covid-19 are Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the United States, Mexico and Canada extended restrictions on non-essential travel at their shared borders for an additional 30 days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), for its part, announced that the United States and Mexico have extended restrictions on all non-essential land traffic on their common border .

The Donald Trump administration announced in March that it would close the northern and southern borders for most non-trade travel in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19. Authorities said at the time that the restrictions would be revised after 30 days.

However, despite the arrival of phase 3 of the epidemic in Mexico , where infections will accelerate faster and faster, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reiterated that there will be no changes in his economic strategy to combat the coronavirus.

López Obrador affirmed that his government will not indebt Mexico as it did in previous administrations, although there are still pressures to request a loan. “We are going to come up with our own strategy. And they mock, they say that we are not going to be able. As one teacher said: ‘If it is difficult, we will succeed. If it is impossible, we are going to try it, ‘” said the president.
