The Mayor stressed that it will start with eight brigades in public spaces and there will be stricter measures in urban buses and street food vendors.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Starting Wednesday, April 8, disinfection work will begin on the city’s public thoroughfare, the mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, announced this morning through a press conference.

“We are going to start ‘sanitizing’ (disinfecting) the entire city, public places. They will start eight large brigades to start ‘sanitizing’ parks, cities, gardens, streets; common areas of the city ”, he mentioned.

In this space with the media, he also announced that that same day he will announce “all the actions that the Mazatlán City Council is going to implement in the city to help stop the exponential growth of the COVID-19 virus.”

Some of the measures that are being reinforced, he explained, are limiting urban transport trucks to more than 40 percent of their capacity and that food stands that are on the street have face masks, antibacterial gel, and gloves, or else the latter could be suspended. In the case of trucking plants, he specified that the instruction was sent to Civil Protection to verify that all of them are complying with the recommended protocols.

“This is a way for us to be sure of having a true sanitary fence and to prevent the virus from spreading at least right here,” he argued.

Likewise, he ruled out a possible “Curfew” over the next few days and emphasized that his administration is granting mouth masks and gloves to citizens and that it is also implementing an awareness campaign that will be disseminated by digital media and by flyers.
