The Nayarit state government confirmed the seventh positive case of covid-19 in the state.

This is a 71-year-old male who recently attended several events during Motorcycle Week that takes place in Mazatlan.

According to several news portals, it is believed that the 71-year-old man was infected during his participation in the event.

He was also part of the guests to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Nautical School

This person is the brother of one of the organizers of the Celebration Committee and attended as a graduate of the institution.

The program of events included part of the opening ceremony, sports activities, book fair, cultural exhibition, statue unveiling, commemorative dance, habaneras gala and a parade that took place from Avenida Del Mar to Paseo Olas Altas, during on March 9-14.

Around 700 people were present at the commemorative dance, including students, graduates, teachers and managers of the nautical schools in Tampico, Veracruz and Mazatlán.

The festivities were attended by the 385 students who are in training at the Merchant Nautical School “Capitán de Altura Antonio Gómez Maqueo”, based in Mazatlán, as well as students from Tampico and Veracruz.

It was the governor of Nayarit, Antonio Echeverría García, who reported through a publication on social networks on March 30, that the seventh case of Covid-19 had been confirmed in that state.

Local and national media reported that it was a 71-year-old man, who recently attended events in Mazatlán.

The person who is hospitalized in the La Loma de Tepic sanatorium is one of the graduates who attended the celebrations commemorating the 140th Anniversary of the Mercantile Nautical School of Mazatlán, where he and his brother, who formed part of the organizing committee, studied.

For his part, the mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres , replied that he does not have information about it: “I do not know it, I did read it out there, but there is a lot of information that is rubbish on social networks, I cannot give credit until I receive the official information ”.

He said that the number of cases in Mazatlán, compared to any tourist destination, is very low, including the capital of the state of Sinaloa, Culiacán, despite the fact that tourists from all parts of the country and from abroad come here.

At the moment the person is hospitalized in a private clinic in a delicate state.
