After months of “internal war”, El Mayo Zambada lost control of the Sinaloa Cartel to the children of El Chapo

According to the information provided by the State Security Table, the cartel is fractured and have been in constant clashes since November 2019.

After four months of internal confrontation, Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada lost control of the Sinaloa Cartel to Iván Archivaldo Guzmán and his brothers Jesús Alfredo and Ovidio, sons of “El Chapo” Guzmán .

According to the information provided by the State Security Table , the attacks of the side of the sons of Joaquín Guzmán Loera are directed by Néstor Isidro García, “El Nini” ; while on the Zambada side, Miguel Ángel Gaxiola or Jesús Alejandro Sánchez, “El Ruso” is responsible.

Both El Ruso and El Nini are responsible for the production and transfer of drugs in the area, as well as arms trafficking, except that each one responds to a different boss.

The State Security Table, which reports to the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, is made up of state and federal authorities, which are dedicated to jointly investigating the drug phenomenon in different entities of the country. In this case for Sinaloa, and the participation of the Secretary of the Navy, the Secretary of National Defense, the Federal Police, the Attorney General of the Republic and the National Guard stand out.

According to the investigation folder, the clashes between the two factions of the Sinaloa Cartel began on November 26, 2019, when Zambada supporters beat 11 municipal police officers from Culiacán related to the Guzmán Salazar.

It is worth mentioning that between 2017, the year Guzmán Loera was arrested, and 2019, at least 19 police officers have been denounced for having ties to different criminal associations in the state of Sinaloa.

After the intimidation of the uniformed men, a series of violent events began to occur between the closest circles of Isidro García and Gaxiola.

On December 3, after a leak of some WhatsApp conversations, and the arrival of hitmen related to El Nini, the north of the state capital was in panic since that area was controlled by El Ruso.

On February 2, 2020, Isidro García’s men detonated large-caliber weapons in the La Campiña and Las Quintas neighborhoods.

On the 26th of the same month, in the Rubén Jaramillo neighborhood, a close collaborator of El Ruso was assassinated. This act was recorded and uploaded to social networks, causing fear among the inhabitants of the colony.

After this aggression, Gaxiola decided to take refuge in Agua Caliente de Los Monzón, along with Julián Grimaldi Paredes, godson of “El Mayo” and in charge of the production of fentanyl in the capital of Sinaloa.

More recently, on March 6, these groups of the Sinaloa Cartel met again in the Loma de Rodriguera neighborhood, when an armed group attempted to kill the brother of a man close to “El Ruso”, but was only wounded.

According to US reports, after the attack, José Guadalupe Tapia, a man close to El Mayo, spoke with Iván Archivaldo and negotiated the withdrawal of El Ruso, leaving the territory to the Guzmán Salazar brothers.

By leaving the area of Aguacaliente de Los Monzón and Paredones “free”, inhabitants of the region fear for their lives and on March 10 created the Rural Community Force of Peoples of the North of Culiacán who request the intervention of the Ministry of Defense.

According to the United States Drug Control Administration ( DEA ), Iván Archivaldo is the third most wanted man in Mexico and, with the departure of Zambada’s forces from the area, increased his power. in the territory.
