Hospitals in Mazatlan take extreme measures due to Covid-19

They set up clinics to exclusively serve patients with flu-like illnesses

Mazatlan, Sinaloa .- In local hospitals extreme preventive measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Some hospitals keep users on the esplanade and others have suspended consultations.

Measurements

At the Issste clinic, Ana Eugenia Barrera Vivanco explained that in the office they have next to the entrance to the unit, the doctor is consulting all users and workers with fever, headache, cough, flu, and difficulty breathing.

After the doctor’s evaluation, it will be decided whether the patient goes home or enters the isolated area that the institution has equipped with medical and nursing personnel to attend to it, and if they take the sample to confirm or rule out the disease.

The director explained that so far, the unit in her charge has admitted four patients suspected of suffering from coronavirus. who were already ruled out by the Health authority after the test and are well.

There is still one boarding school that is stable and the test results are not yet available.
Every day, on average, 50 patients with a respiratory illness are treated in the outpatient clinic, and they are given disability for 14 days.

They cancel surgeries

After the Covid-19 health emergency, the Mazatlán general hospital, the Issste clinic, and the municipal hospital canceled the scheduled surgeries.

Only emergency interventions are practiced, highlighted by the director of the civil hospital, Héctor Carreón Tizcareño. He stressed that they reduced the influx of users to the hospital after suspending the external consultation. It is only attended through emergencies and must be justified.

It also has an office to serve exclusively those with respiratory infections.
Hygiene and distance measures are also taken to protect the patient, the doctors and all the personnel who work in the medical institution, the official added.

The director of Municipal Health Services, Alfonso Sandoval Sánchez, stressed that the Margarita Maza de Juárez hospital continues to provide care to everyone who requires it. 

Since yesterday they closed the doors and installed a tent so that users remain outside waiting to be treated but protected from the sun. The chairs are located one and a half meters apart. There they hope to go to their doctor or to receive the services provided there.
