Second COVID-19 death in Mexico, was registered in Durango

The Ministry of Health of the state of Durango reported on Thursday March 19, through a statement the death of a 74-year-old patient, in the municipality of Gómez Palacio, who was a suspected Covid-19 patient. This would be the second death from the outbreak in Mexico.

The victim arrived in an asymptomatic state on March 3, from California, United States; In addition, he had hypertension problems for 15 years.

This would be the second death due to coronavirus in Mexico.

According to the Durango health authorities, the patient went to clinic 46 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security IMSS, in the municipality of Gómez Palacio, on Tuesday March 17th, when he presented symptoms that met with the operational definition of Covid-19. At the hospital, doctors proceeded to take the corresponding blood sample.

Julio Gutiérrez, delegate of the IMSS in Durango, reported that the patient was in contact with at least 14 people, including nurses and hospital workers, for which reason, all these people have been already isolated, following preventive measures.

In the last 24 hours, Mexico rose from 118 cases of contagion to 164. And in that sense, 448 suspecious cases are being monitored.
