MEXICO CITY.- Health authorities of Mexico City announced the establishment of a sanitary fence to control the outbreak of 16 measles cases that have been registered, of which nine correspond to adults and the rest are minors.

According to the Ministry of Health, the cases are in the mayor’s office Gustavo A. Madero, Álvaro Obregón, Xochimilco and Coyoacán. The first was confirmed on February 22 in Álvaro Obregón.

The measures contemplate the implementation of fences within a radius of 25 blocks around where the patient with the disease was located.

This Sunday, the head of the area, Oliva Pérez Arellano, explained that it was detected that the majority of patients did not have the complete vaccination schedule and even that there was no history of these, specifically in children.

The measles outbreak in the country’s capital began in the North Reclusorio, where it was reported that 8,000 vaccines were applied, both to the inmates and to the personnel who work there, and, in some cases, even to relatives of the inmates.
